IEC 63298:2024 provides comprehensive requirements and recommendations for the integration of nuclear power plants (NPPs) with the electrical grid; see section a) in the Introduction for further details. Detailed design criteria for components and equipment are covered by other specific IEC standards that are beyond the scope of this document. This document also sets forth coordination requirements to ensure that operational guidelines for both the grid and the NPP are developed to support safe and reliable operations. Furthermore, it specifies the requirements for creating a framework for any necessary specialized tests, such as assessments of the NPP’s regulatory capabilities and tests concerning load rejection during residential load operation.
